At Bourne End Academy, we have a comprehensive programme of careers education, advice and guidance. This is offered throughout the school to all year groups in the classroom and through participation in extracurricular clubs and school trips. Our impartial Connexions adviser, Lisa Goodman, interviews all students in Year 10 and Year 11 about future pathways, as well as making herself available during parents evenings and options evenings to discuss their next steps. In addition to this, all students will have an individual interview with a senior teacher to discuss their post 16 choices. All students in Year 12 and 13 are given extensive guidance about their possible next steps (including university applications and other post 18 options, such as apprenticeships) by our sixth form team
Throughout the year a selection of talks on a variety of careers are offered in assemblies to students. Mock interviews are also conducted with sixth formers and Year 10.
To support students we subscribe to a website called Eclips which is an easy to use online careers resource that provides information on over 1000 jobs and careers.

The school reviews its careers programme twice a year internally and completes further external audits to ensure that the information it provides is current and to develop a strategic forward-looking policy.
